For basic research the breecon offers populations of Arabidopsis thaliana as a model plant for dicotyledonous species and for Brachypodium distachyon as a model plant for monocotyledonous grasses. These populations are the basis to explore gene-to-gene function in plant development, in plant metabolism and to analyze epistatic effects and epigenomics.
